TalkAbroad

Conversation partners with native speakers of Spanish

Please note that you'll need to schedule your conversation at least three days in advance from the date your reporte is due!

We will use an online program called TalkAbroad that will allow you to interact with native speakers of Spanish from Latin America online. They are real people who are very well trained and experienced to hold conversations with learners of Spanish from the United States.

You'll need to sign up via the TalkAbroad website (https://talkabroad.com/story#home) and purchase 6, 30-minute conversations.

NOTE: Only five conversations count towards your grade (in case you cannot make it for one of them).

For each conversation, you will have an assigned topic and a small task to do with your partner. Then, you will create and submit a one-page reporte in Spanish where you’ll summarize what you learned from your conversation and you will share it with your classmates in class in groups. Then instructor will select one person at random to give a 5-minute presentation to the class about the conversation so you will have to be prepared to present in case your instructor selects you.

Many students select a cultural aspect that they learned from these conversations and write about it in their Reflexión Cultural.

See your Assignment Calendar to find when is your first report due.
