Course Description

Welcome to French 102, an introductory course for students who have never taken French before OR who have been placed into French 102 by the UIC Office of Testing Services Placement Test.

UIC and the Department of French and Francophone Studies value diversity and inclusion. We aim to create a supportive, respectful, and productive learning environment for all students of whatever age, disability, ethnicity, race, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, socioeconomic status, geographic background, religion, political ideology, language, or culture.

We expect and invite all members of this class to contribute to a respectful, welcoming, and inclusive environment for every other member of our class.

Let your instructor know how they can work with you to create a supportive and productive class experience. If any aspects of the instruction or design of this course result in barriers to your inclusion, engagement, accurate assessment, or achievement, please let your instructor know.

We look forward to collaborating with every one of you.

French 102 is a four (4) credit hour blended learning class. It meets face-to-face, and one credit hour is fulfilled with online learning materials.

Expect to spend 1.5 hours completing homework for each class session you meet face-to-face.

Since this is a blended learning course, online learning materials complement textbook materials used in class and for homework.

Are you in the right class? To take French 102, you must have taken French 101 at UIC or been placed into French 102 after taking the UIC French Placement Test.
