A simple word with a simple premise almost everyone could understand. Think of your favorite movie character. Are they from a true story or a complete work of fiction? In any case, we could only hope that they were real and/or that we could meet them. Hope is the apparent foundation for much of our lives; we hope we’ll succeed, we hope we’ll get that promotion, we hope our crush will feel the same in return, we hope our lives don’t crash and burn, and so on.
There are millions of things to hope for, but that’s all it really is; Hope. It doesn’t guarantee your wish will come true, leaving you to either give up, or hope that the hard work you put in is worth it in the end. Some hopes and dreams won’t come true, there’s no denying that; but a key element to hope is not giving into the pressures of the world.
Sadly, there are many people out there who need some hope; the men and women overseas, hoping to go home even when their friends and fellow soldiers don’t, the people of Australia that hope they will have something to go back to after the fires, the people who have been infected with the Coronavirus and hope to recover, and many more.
Hope and Fear seem to go hand and hand, I’m afraid. But that’s just life; Hope is the light at the end of the tunnel, and hope allows us to do. There are times when life beats us down, but hope helps us do what is necessary to get back on our feet. As a wise man once said, “Do, or do not, there is no try.”
