My shoe was in the style of the artist, Andy Warhol. I more specifically based on my art on his painting The Marilyn Diptych. The overall theme of the shoes is Superheros.
His way of painting people using simple colors and black outlines inspired my two superheroes on the outsides of the side of the shoes. I also used warm and cool colors to help differentiate the human world of the warm shoe and the cooler alien shoe. I chose the superhero theme because I wanted to represent the way kids see their role models. On one side of the shoe, there is a superhero, and in the background their city that they protect but on the other side, there is a child dressed as a hero. This child is actually seeing themselves as the superhero. They are envisioning themselves as their hero because that is how important these role models are for children. No matter what world they are on, ours or an alien world far far away, children always will look up to someone for guidance and wisdom so every person needs to present themselves and act such as the superheroes we see on the big screen.
