60 Days of Udacity
You may have heard of the #100DaysofCode Challenge, and here at Udacity we do something that will feel very familiar to you. It's called the 60 Days of Udacity Challenge — and we're here to challenge you! 💪
The general premise is to build a habit by making a public commitment of working in your classroom every day for 60 days in your Shell Scholarship!
Habits that emphasise consistent practice have been proven to help overall retention of new learning material. The motive through this challenge is to help you build time-line driven goals in terms of the Nanodegree, track your progress regularly, and commit to the goal as a team so that you can help each other achieve it!
🚨You won't be assigned any teams as such. It is just that 'everyone' who fills the commitment form for the challenge will be considered as part of a big team!
Important Dates:
Starts On: Thursday, June 30, 2022
Commitment Form closes on: Wednesday, July 13, 2022 (extended!!!)
1️⃣ Sign up for the Challenge starting, Wednesday 29, June , 2022 through this form >> #60daysofUdacity Commitment Form. Everyone who signs up automatically gets their name added to our Commitment Wall.
2️⃣ With the goal of following the Weekly Schedule, EVERY DAY work in your classroom by setting aside time for it (we're suggesting 60 minutes every day but work atleast for 30 minutes on busy days)
3️⃣ Do a daily check-in of your progress in the #06_60daysofudacity Slack Channel! How? Every day at around the same time, make a short post in the channel and answer the following three questions:
What did I learn today?
What will I learn tomorrow?
What issues are blocking my progress?
Here’s an example of what a daily post would look like:
" Day 1 -
1. Today, I learnt Content Delivery under Cloud Fundamentals
2. Tomorrow I plan to work on Security under Cloud Fundamentals
3. Not understanding how to create a VPC is blocking my progress"
4️⃣ Operate as a team! 🤝
Applaud those who post any wins! For eg. if someone posts; 'Yesterday, I finally completed lesson 3'. You can leave an emoji under their daily update or by reply to them directly!
Motivate anyone who is struggling! See if you can remove specific blockers or simply offer your help to them.
5️⃣ When you've successfully completed the 60 days challenge, go ahead and fill out the Completion Form . Everyone who completes the Challenge gets a star next to their name on the Commitment Wall! 🌟
You must do a DAILY check-in about your progress in the Program Course in #06_60daysofudacity Slack Channel in format given above each day except for a day's off every week. Start posting from the day you fill up the Commitment Form!
You may choose to exercise 1 "Off Day" during every week! You will not have to post a checkin on that day in the week. You can continue your Day counter from the next day onward.
In your daily check-in post, you should primarily mention about your progress made in the Nanodegree Program!
You can choose to make the daily check-in post at any particular time in your time zone. We will though recommend that whatever time you pick, try to keep posting at around the same time everyday in the #06_60daysofudacity channel as this will help in making it a habit!
For eg. if you decide to make a daily check-in post at 5 PM in your time zone, then try to do your daily check-in at the same time everyday for the whole 60 days of the commitment
Everyone who signs up for the 60 days commitment should think of themselves as a part of a big team!
Encouragement to your team-members can be as simple as a positive emoji! 👍🔥
You can set up a daily reminder in Slack to post the daily check-in everyday! All you need to do is type and send this in your DM Conversation with Slackbot (paste the text without the quotes) :
"/remind me at XX AM everyday to Post daily check-in for the 60 days challenge in #06__60daysofudacity channel"
(You can replace XX AM with whatever time in your time zone you think you will be able to make a daily post for the challenge eg. 10 AM , 9:30 PM etc.)
Graduated from your nanodegree? If you happen to complete your Nanodegree Program before or during the 60 days, then in your daily check-ins you can post about something related to this subject such as an additional project that demonstrates your newfound skills, leading study sessions for your peers, or a working on other relevant courses on Udacity.
Goal of the #60DaysofUdacity Challenge is to help you — the scholar — set a SMART goal:
S— pecific: You, the scholars are practicing or learning each day to form consistent habits.
M—easurable: This goal is defined in a concrete amount of time to practice each day (30-minutes).
A—chievable: Many Udacity scholars have already worked on some of your Nanodegree Program
R—ealistic: Easily achievable given the amount of time that it takes to work within the classroom.
T—ime-Bound: This is a short term goal that is 60 days in length.
