Installing Solidworks 2019-2020 From the Solidworks Website

If you already have an old version of Solidworks installed on your computer, you must fully uninstall it before installing Solidworks 2019-2020
You will need about 18 GB free drive space to install Solidworks. This can be slimmed down slightly by declining to install help manuals and sample files if you're really low on space.
In a web browser, open http://www.solidworks.com/SEK
On the first line ("I already have a Serial Number that starts with 9020:") select "Yes".
Select "2019-2020" from the Version dropdown.
Enter your email address and select "Student Team" from the last dropdown, then click "Request Download".
Scroll down and accept the license agreement.
On the next page, click the button that says "Download".
Download the self-extracting archive and unzip it. When it is done, the Solidworks installer will open.
- If you get any warnings about pending updates, read the message carefully and follow the instructions. Usually, the installer asks you to quit and restart your computer. After you have restarted, follow these steps again, and you should not get a popup.
Select "Individual ( on this computer )

On the license screen, enter a license for Solidworks and nothing else. It will include Visualize and several other products, even though they do not appear to be licensed on this screen.
- To obtain a license, contact the team's software license manager on Slack. Currently this is Theo (@tkell).
Click "Next".
Accept the license terms and click "Download and Install".
This process can take as little as 30 minutes, and as much as several hours, depending on your internet speed and your computer's disk speed. Don't start the download if you are not in a location with good internet, where you can remain for a while. Don't interrupt the installer or allow your computer to go to sleep. It can have disastrous results.

You will need about 35-38 GB free drive space total to install Solidworks. After it's installed, you can delete the installer image, freeing up ~18GB.
You will be provided with a copy of the administrative image on an external disk. Copy the folder "Solidworks 2019-2020 Administrative Images" to your computer.
Once it's copied, open the folder.
Hold down the shift key and right-click on empty space in the File Explorer window, and click "Open command window here" or "Open PowerShell window here" (whichever one shows up in the menu).

Copy/paste this command into the command prompt/PowerShell window, and press enter:
- .\startswinstall.exe -showui -now
The Solidworks installer window will open and begin installing Solidworks automatically.

The installer will take 20-40 minutes depending on your disk speed.
