To do: add images of all the lenses and adapter pieces. Once coronavirus is over :(
Remove the plastic dust covering from the microscope.
Remove the lens cap from the bottom of the lens stack.
Attach or remove any lenses as necessary (See below).
The camera is a small black puck mounted to the top of the microscope. Slide the switch to the on position. An image should appear on the monitor. If there is an error message about a SD card, ignore it and it will go away. Do not touch the monitor. This is Rohan's personal monitor and is not to be used by anyone without permission. It is set up to work with the microscope camera automatically. If you change settings, change display cables, or move the monitor, Rohan will be very sad.
Turn the light ring on using the external controller.
If the light ring is attached, remove it by loosening the three screws in a crosswise pattern until it can slip off of the lens assembly.
Unscrew the light ring adapter from the microscope assembly. Put it in the microscope parts tray on the shelf below.
Unscrew each lens one at a time, install a lens cap, and put it in it's white cardboard box on the shelf below. Lenses should never be left uncapped or on the table top.
If you are removing all the lenses without attaching any more, put a lens cap on the bottom of the head assembly to protect the internal optics.
Remove lenses from their white cardboard boxes one at a time. Remove the lens cap and put it back in the box. Screw the lens onto the bottom of the head assembly or the bottom of an existing lens.
Screw in the light ring adapter.
Attach the light ring by fitting it over the light ring adapter and tightening the screws in a crosswise pattern.
There is a knob on each side of the head assembly. One of these is course focus and the other is fine focus. Adjust these to focus the microscope.
If using the hot air rework station, ensure that the air gun never points at the monitor or microscope.
To adjust the position of the microscope arm, there are several knobs on the vertical stand. When adjusting these, ensure that you hold onto the microscope arm so that it doesn't fall down.
Turn the light ring on using the external controller.
Turn the camera off.
Install the protective lens cap onto the bottom of the lens stack.
Cover the entire microscope with the plastic dust covering. Ensure that the bottom of the cover us bunched around the base of the microscope to prevent dust and smoke from floating up from below.
