What is the Link Between Academic Advising Experiences and Overall Student Satisfaction with UCSC?
Universities, which commonly use student satisfaction to operationalize their institutional success, aim to provide resources such as academic advising to foster student well-being and retention. Our study aims to investigate how students' experiences with academic advising are related to satisfaction with UCSC.
Participants included Psychology students (n=194), obtained through a convenience sample. Participants answered surveys on academic advising and student satisfaction at UCSC. Results indicated a significant, fairly powerful positive correlation between experiences with academic advising and overall satisfaction with UCSC (r(192) = .307, p < .001). This suggests that positive experiences with academic advising resources were associated with higher students’ overall satisfaction with UCSC.
This finding would propose that UCSC administration strengthen its supportive resources (such as academic advising), properly demonstrating these resources’ importance to students. Higher-quality advising resources at UCSC would enhance students’ academic success and foster higher retention rates.”
