4‑H’s Healthy Living projects provide you with a better understanding of how your choices can help yourself, your family, and your communities. 4‑H helps build a firm foundation that encourages good decision-making and strong interpersonal skills. Social-emotional health is the cornerstone to confident, caring young leaders who understand how to take care of their minds and inner being, which is key to holistic well-being.
Through 4-H Mindfulness projects, learn how to grow habits that can help you improve your health in different ways:
Physical health: mindful eating
Social health: building positive relationships
Emotional health: recognizing and managing your feelings; managing stress
The program promotes mindful practices that lead to improvements in managing one’s own goals, developing a sense of self, time management, stress management, emotional regulation, and mindful eating practices.
This curriculum includes ten experiential learning activities which are designed to be delivered weekly by trained teens or adult leaders.

4-H Mindful Mechanics incorporates the Essential Elements of youth development: belonging, mastery, independence, and generosity. Through 4-H Mindful Mechanics, teens are encouraged to build positive relationships through expressing care, concern and gratitude for others (belonging), build beliefs in oneself (mastery), practice self-discipline, self-control, and self-reflection (independence), and serve others.
4-H Mindful Mechanics can also serve as a training for teens that would like to lead lessons from the companion curriculum, 4-H Mindful Me, through a ‘teens as teachers’ (TAT) approach.
