Taxis and ride-sharing services are available from the airport at all hours. A ride will cost around $40-60 depending on the service and time of day.
The City of Edmonton provides one-way bus travel on the Edmonton International Transit Service (or Bus Route 747) daily from 4:10am to 12:30am between the airport and Century Park Transit Centre. You can then take the Light Rail Transit (LRT) just west of Century Park Transit Centre to the University Transit Centre located on University of Alberta campus. If you are staying at the Lister Centre, get off the LRT at the Health Sciences Jubilee Station instead.

The closest lots to the conference venue in the CCIS are Lot E and Lot N.
The City of Edmonton allows multiple scooter and e-bike sharing services to operate (weather permitting) from April to late-November. There is an extensive network of protected bike lanes that offer access to the river valley, downtown, and the surrounding neighborhoods. Many locations in the Old Strathcona and Garneau neighborhoods are also walkable from campus.
As mentioned above, there are also numerous bus routes running to and from campus from far-ranging locations in the city. Two LRT stations, University and Health Sciences Jubilee Stations, are located on campus and provide access North, South, and East from the University.

Downtown Edmonton is located just across the river from campus. The High-Level Bridge (109th street) has foot / biking paths on both sides that allow access to downtown. The University Light Rail Station (LRT) located on campus is also only four stops from Central Station next to Chateau Lacome.
Additionally, there are a number of other hotels within walking distance of campus including:
Campus Tower Suite Hotel (next to campus, 12 minute walk to CCIS)
Varscona Hotel on Whyte (32 min walk to CCIS)
Metterra Hotel on Whyte (36 min walk to CCIS)
Other hotels are mainly located across the river, and can be accessed by walking, scootering, or biking across the High Level Bridge or by making use of the Light Rail Transit (LRT) station on campus.
The closest dining option is Remedy Cafe located directly in the CCIS. The cafe offers coffee, tea, breakfast sandwiches and South-Asian cuisine.
There are a number of on-campus dining options available, mainly clustered in the Student’s Union Building and HUB Mall. Some recommended options on campus include:

The south and east side of campus is ringed by further food options.

Whyte Avenue (82nd Ave) between 109th and 104th streets is packed with shops, restaurants, and bars. Of special interest to AIIDE attendees is The Hexagon Board Game Cafe, a bar and cafe with board games to borrow, along with card and tabletop games for purchase.
Metro Cinema is an independent, volunteer-run cinema within walking distance of the university. They take community requests of what films to show and tickets are incredibly cheap. See https://metrocinema.org/calendar/ for showings.
West Edmonton Mall is the second largest mall in North America with two theme parks, two mini-gold courses, a miniature aquarium, a movie theatre, a variety of arcades, a great deal of restaurants and shopping, and an ice rink.
Royal Alberta Museum (RAM) is a large natural and human history museum, specifically focused on Alberta’s history and pre-history.
Muttart Conservatory has a trio of glass pyramid greenhouses with Tropical, Arid, and Temperate climates (in case you want to escape the cold).
Fort Edmonton Park is, if you’re willing to brave the cold, an outdoor park with an exhibit dedicated to the Indigenous and Métis peoples’, and historic buildings from the 1800s and early 1900s.
Edmonton River Valley the middle of Edmonton is a massive park, the largest continuous urban parkland in Canada, surrounding the North Saskatchewan River that splits the city. It will likely be snowy and cold, but there are plenty of great hiking opportunities for those properly prepared.
Edmonton Breweries located between 75 Ave NW and 79 Ave NW along 99th St NW feature an array of local highlights, including Blind Enthusiam’s The Monolith, Bent Stick, Odd Company, Shiddy’s Distilling, Yeasty Boys, and Ale Architect. Each location has a taproom and some feature snacks and full meals.
