After completing the three training components in this section, new instructors will receive their first raise in pay.
New instructors will complete Learning Plans in the Mathnasium Training Hub. These include interactive modules, videos, quizzes, and assignments to complete and upload, as well as observations and practical tests where you will teach what you have learned to your Center Director. New instructors must complete the Instructor Level 1, IEG Level 1 Supplement, and Instructor Level 2 Learning Plans during their initial instructor training.
The in-center instructor binder contains assignments that will be completed and uploaded to the Training Hub as well as resources to review throughout the first few weeks.
Student Management Training Day is conducted online approximately once a month, which allows instructors from all IEG Mathnasium centers to participate. New instructors are required to attend as part of their Level 1 training. All instructors are invited and encouraged to attend additional Training Days for Continuing Education credit. This three-hour training consists of activities and discussions centered around sections of Larry: On the Art of Teaching, with an emphasis on sharing student management experiences and strategies with other instructors.
You will work on training during your regularly scheduled shifts as directed by your Center Director, and some tasks can only be completed in the center, but you are also encouraged to work on self-paced assignments in the Training Hub outside of your shifts. All training time that occurs outside your regularly scheduled shifts must be clocked in the Math Made Simple app with a Clock In Note briefly describing what you worked on. You may spend as many hours as necessary on your Level 1 & 2 training outside the center.
After completing this level of training, instructors will receive an additional raise in pay as well as an engraved instructor nametag.
The Instructor Level 3 Learning Plan in the Training Hub is self-paced and consists of a series of workbooks focusing on the five Mathnasium Teaching Constructs. Level 3 training completion is a prerequisite to all Continuing Education training (except Staff Meetings).
You may work on Level 3 training during your regularly scheduled shifts at the discretion of your Center Director, but you are also encouraged to work on it outside of your shifts. All time must be clocked in the Math Made Simple app with a Clock In Note briefly describing what you worked on. You may spend as many hours as necessary on your Level 3 training outside the center.
After completing Level 3 training, you can continue to earn raises by completing additional training.
All hourly Instructors and hourly Lead Instructors are eligible to earn raises by completing Continuing Education (CE) training. Staff Meetings can be reported for credit from the time of hire, but all other credits can only be earned once you have completed Level 3 training, and you must complete Level 3 training before receiving a CE raise. For every 15 CE credits earned, you will receive a 50 cent per hour raise. In order for CE credits to be counted, all training must be reported through the Completed CE Training Form on the Instructor Dashboard.
You may work on CE training during your regularly scheduled shifts at the discretion of your Center Director, and you may spend up to 6 additional hours per pay period working on CE training outside of your shifts. All time must be clocked in the Math Made Simple app with a Clock In Note briefly describing what you worked on, and you must get approval in advance from the Training Director if there is a valid reason you will need to exceed the 6 hour per pay period limit. Failure to respect this limit will result in disciplinary action.
Monthly staff meetings are mandatory. They will be held once a month on a day determined by your Center Director, will start when the center closes, and will last approximately an hour and a half. You will be paid for the time, and pizza will be provided. The general structure will be a discussion of students and any issues with center procedures, followed by a training activity or game to provide ongoing instructor development. You can claim 1 Continuing Education credit for every Staff Meeting you attend.
