First Monday Lesson with the New Co-teacher
This is my first Monday morning lesson with my new co-teacher. I thought I needed to make a huge adjustment again; however, I was wrong because my new co-teacher showed how professional and flexible she is. We were able to execute the lesson smoothly and properly. From that day on, I already knew that I would have a really good co-teaching relationship with my new co-teacher.
Independent Tasks
There are some Monday morning lessons where we let students do the task on their own. For example, as you can see from the pictures, we have "time" as our topic. After the assembly, we put the board in front of the office, then we jumbled the numbers, and free students can go there to match the words to the numbers correctly. Additionally, during the Thanksgiving activity, students could write their messages on the feathers we prepared in the English class, then they could paste those to make the turkey's wings.
Santa Rom's Preparation
I was trying to fit the costume if it was too big or small for me. As Christmas Day was approaching, we needed to prepare for this event because it was our topic for the Monday morning assembly. To make Monday morning lessons, we must connect the topics to the current events or festivals so students can relate to them. Luckily, the Santa Claus costume fitted me well.
Christmas Day
In this Monday morning assembly, our topic is Christmas Day, so I decided to wear the Santa Claus costume so that students can relate to the topic and will be intrigued by the lesson. We were teaching vocabulary related to Christmas Day. Additionally, one of the essentials of Christmas is giving. So, my co-teacher and I decided to give some gifts to the students who could answer our questions.
New Year's Day
After Christmas Day, our next Monday morning assembly is New Year's Day. Again, for an effective Monday morning topic, it should be relatable and timely. In this way, students can easily apply what they have learned, and it will be meaningful because they can use the words on that day. For example, once the Monday morning assembly, they will go back to their classrooms, and there are some decorations in their classroom, by looking at those decorations, they can apply the words they have previously learned, such as "fireworks" and "calendar".
