Finding Pairs
In this simple and age-appropriate activity, students will find the correct pair of letters of the shown capital letters. It does not need too many instructions; just show a simple demonstration or example, and students can instantly understand how to do the task.
Puzzle
Grade 1 students need something that will improve their critical thinking skills. So, using this activity, they will use their logical abilities to connect the puzzle pieces to come up with an image. Once they have formed the image in their minds, they will raise their hands to say the word. If the image is correct, then ask for the spelling of the word. There are boxes provided that will serve as their guide. The teacher's guidance or support is needed for words that are hard to spell.
Silhouette
Another fun and effective activity to improve retention is the "Silhouette". Students' attention span is very short, especially grade 1 students. So, variations in concept or target word teaching are always necessary. Students are always engaged and don't feel bored because of the different approaches used in the classroom.
