Caving

Ranger of Camp Jackson, Duane Southers, 256-486-4682
$10 Caving and Camping, $10 Food, $1 Cobbler, $9 Participant Transportation, $8 Trailer, $2 Processing

We will leave early Saturday to drive 3 hours non-stop. Participants will arrive at their caves (assigned based on your comfort with tight spaces; all levels of confidence will be able to enjoy caving) and given an orientation by experienced instructors. We will be underground most of the day, eating lunch within. Dinner and Sunday breakfast will be patrol based. Dinner can be simple re-heats (chili, soup) to minimize work after caving all day.

Here is a short video of a BSA trip from January [2022]. This is a different cave than we will be going to, but it gives a good idea what everybody should expect. All small sections are optional. The small section in the video was a side trip for the folks who wanted to try it but not all participants did it. —Cave instructor Michael Taylor 2022-08-31
