This training will discuss how to support clients to access gender affirming medicial care. It explores changes in WPATH's SOC 8, its impact on letter writing, and ways to incorporate these into your process.
Objectives:
Understand the purpose and scope of the WPATH Standards of Care 8, and what it tells us about best practices for Gender Affirming Care
Distinguish between Informed Consent models of letter writing and gatekeeping models, and explore the ethics involved
Understand the process of writing a letter, including the assessment of client needs, and information needed in the letters
Identify ways to receive support if unsure about next steps when letter writing
