Happy Valentine's Day! The generosity and love displayed through our schools has been tremendous through out the winter season.
We congratulate Whitson Elementary, who was recognized during the February 6 board meeting for collecting 2,156 food items in the 2025 Living the Dream Food Drive (pictured above). In total, 4,796 items were collected districtwide and donated to the TPS Community Cupboard and Washburn University Food Pantry to serve families in need. Also at our school board meeting, we expressed appreciation to our counselors for National School Counseling Week and shared the importance of investing in mental health. We also celebrated CTE Month and enjoyed highlighting our outstanding February Senior of the Month, Damian Thompson, from Cap City.
Through out this month, I look forward to seeing many of you at our Black History Month programs as we celebrate the diversity across Topeka Public Schools. As the first African American female superintendent serving in Topeka, it is a privilege to serve alongside incredible educators and community members in a district committed to inclusivity.
Thank you for your continued support.
