GINOS Long-term Study Abroad Program
GINOS Long-term Study Abroad Program
The study abroad program aims for students to acquire further practical skills and deepen their specialized knowledge, based on the English skills and specialized knowledge and experience that they have accumulated since entering the University. For example, the program aims to develop students' ability to engage in multilayered discussions about various issues facing global society, not only from the perspective of their own specialized field but also by taking into account the perspective of their host country or region.
Participants
All domestic students from the Department of Global Innovation Studies (all students excluding those admitted through entrance exams for international students)
Host universities
Universities that offer bachelor's degree programs in English among universities, etc. that have signed study abroad agreements with Toyo University or the Faculty of Global and Regional Studies of Toyo University.
Study abroad period and timing
The study abroad period is either one semester or two semesters. Study abroad is generally to begin in the fall semester of the second year. Please note that the study abroad period may vary depending on the host university (e.g., for nine months from September in the second year to May in the third year).
Scholarship
A fixed amount of 350,000 yen is provided regardless of the length of your study abroad period.
Please note that the scholarship amount differs from those offered by other faculties and departments.
For details such as the payment schedule, please contact the Education Affairs Section for the Faculty of Global and Regional Studies (1st floor, Building 6).
Study abroad credit transfer and course completion
The credits earned at the host university (limited to courses in bachelor's degree programs) will be transferred as credits for courses offered at the Department of Global Innovation Studies if the Department deems them as academically beneficial in terms of content. In addition, students are permitted to take some courses offered at the Department while studying abroad. Please check “Credit Transfer/Course Completion concerning Long-Term Study Abroad” below.
Notes
Domestic students can not earn credit for the required course “Research Methods” without completing a one semester or longer study abroad program.
You will be allowed to participate in the Bridge Program (a program where you study at a university-affiliated language school in the first semester and take specialized subjects in the second semester) without meeting the requirements for participating in an exchange program. In that case, however, the fees, scholarships and courses you can take may vary. Please check ToyoNet-ACE (for current students) for more details.
