6.2.3. Exercises with a topographic surface
Look at the horizontals and the cut part of the topographic surface (hill). You can hide a horizontal plane by first clicking on it and then right-clicking and selecting "Hide selected". Right-click and select "Show all objects" to restore the view.
The horizontals are the curved lines, and the lower the horizontal, the longer it is.
The exercises that follow refer to the hill model.
Pay attention to the elevation mark symbols on different surfaces!
Look at the vertical cross-sections of the topographic surface using the model viewer below.
Vertical section planes are used for vertical plan drawings. In this case, the vertical cutting planes might not be parallel because they are used to obtain the most pronounced relief of the topographic surface.
Vertical planning is necessary when the existing terrain has to be changed for construction and landscaping. Changing the terrain generally involves the cutting or backfilling of the soil.
Refer to the hill model when answering the questions that follow.
Look at the vertical parts created by horizontals of the topographic surface using the model viewer below.
Vertical planning is necessary when the existing terrain has to be changed for construction and landscaping. Changing the terrain generally involves the cutting or backfilling of the soil.
Refer to the trough model for a better overview of this type of topographic surface and answer the following question.
Engineering tasks with plans and vertical cross-sections of topographic surfaces:
designing a horizontal platform with earthen slopes at a planned angle,
construction of the contour lines of earthen slopes for the planned platform on a topographic plan,
building of a topographic surface using a selected vertical section plane,
drawing the relief of the topographic surface of the profile of the planned site with earthen slopes,
analysis of the necessary recesses and bedding to create a horizontal platform with slopes.
Please use the video files for necessary information getting how to construct a plan of a horizontal platform located on a topographic surface.
In this video, there is demonstrated the construction of a profile of a topographic surface and an earthwork.
