This week we have had a super busy week with lots of visitors to school. Dr Bike came on Wednesday, he was with us most of the day because there were so many bikes for him to check. These bikes where possible were fixed and are now safe to ride which means they are ready for cycle to school week next week! If he was unable to fix the bike, you will have been advised. He will visit again later in the year so if you have a bike which needs a safety check, please keep an eye out for this.
We also had a visit from Belfour Beatty, a construction company who are working locally on M1 enhancements at the moment. They spoke to each Key Stage 2 class about the different jobs which were needed to support the work that they do.
Today Key Stage 2 have had a music assembly by 'Create Music,' they will be coming into school to deliver some whole class lessons but also offering music lessons (at a cost) to your children. A leaflet should come home after school today.
Year 6 families, it is time to begin thinking about your choices for secondary schools. Please look at the local secondary school websites to see when they are holding open events for you to visit the schools and see what they can offer you. We have been informed that Houstone will be holding their new to Year 7 open evening on 17th October 2024.
Next week is cycle to school week. As a school we would like as many children as possible to safely cycle to school next week.
Cycling is an excellent form of exercise which will get the blood moving ready for learning and a way to get to school without getting stuck in the school drop off traffic.
Please ensure any one who rides to school does so safely and wears a helmet. Bikes should be stored on the bike racks outside the main hall.
To showcase our intelligent talking and end of cycle learning we will be holding our Oracy endpoint events on:
Reception - Tuesday 12th November @ 2:45pm
Year 1 - Thursday 14th November @ 2:45pm
Year 2 - Wednesday 13th November @ 2:45pm
Year 3 - Friday 15th November @ 2:45pm
Year 4 - Wednesday 13th November @ 2:45pm
Year 5 - Tuesday 12th November @ 2:45pm
Year 6 - Thursday 14th November @ 2:45pm
We have got off to a good start this year with attendance - let's keep it up.
Whole School Attendance this week: 96%
Whole school Attendance this year to date: 95%
Remember that regular attendance in school helps your child to feel settled and happy because they are able to form strong relationships with their peers and adults as well as helping them to have access to the learning which is taking place.
If you are finding it difficult to encourage your child to school, please contact the school for support.
