It has been wonderful to have so many families in school this week to celebrate the end of Cycle 1: People of the World and share their children's learning. Reception kicked off the week with some amazing speaking and singing and then the week flowed from there!
Over the last few weeks, Key Stage 2 children have enjoyed history workshops based on their area of learning. The workshops have been amazing and the children have really learnt a lot. On Tuesday, Year 4 took part in a workshop about the Ancient Greeks. There was plenty of intelligent talking throughout the day which ended with a quiz in teams.
Thank-you to all of the children who took part in the TT Rockstars competition on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Many of the children were really spurred on by the competition engaging with TT Rockstars for the first time in a long time. Please support your children to access TT Rockstars daily at home. Being able to quickly recall number bonds and times tables is a fundamental part of being successful in Maths. If you would like your child to access TT Rockstars at school, we run a before school club each day which begins at 8:20am. If you come to the main office and ask to attend they will let your child in to the library and then make sure they get to class on time.
This week we have taken part in anti-bullying week. The children have learnt about what bullying is in their classes and what to do to keep themselves safe if they feel they are being bullied.
We all wore our odd socks on Tuesday to remind everyone that it is OK to be different and that as a school we were supporting anti-bullying week.
Our Safety Squad delivered a fantastic assembly on Wednesday to Key Stage 1 and 2 which further reinforced the messages which we have been teaching the children this week.
Miss Oughton has been running a poster competition -if you have poster which you wish to be entered, please send them to school by Monday with your child's name and class on the back.
The work outside Reception and on the Key Stage 1 playground is now complete. We are very excited to organise the new learning spaces for the children to enjoy. This does mean that collection and drop off will go back to normal from Monday. Please ensure that as you move through the new areas your children do not use any of the equipment which may be out.
The Key Stage 2 boys toilets are taking shape and starting to look amazing. These should be ready for use by the boys towards the middle of next week.
These new additions to school have made a significant improvement to the environment and learning experiences the children have access to. We have spoken to all of the children about how to take care of the outside spaces and will be teaching Reception how to use it properly. We have spoken to the boys about toileting and the importance ensuring that when they stand up to go to the toilet they aim in the bowl of the toilet or into the urinal. This will ensure that the toilets do not begin to smell and that they stay pleasant for all children to use. Please reinforce this at so that our school remains an inviting and pleasant place to be.
