This week it may have been cold but the sun has come out. The children have been enjoying playing outside with the equipment at lunchtime and breaktime. The active play. Today everyone had a great day supporting Comic Relief. Thank-you to the School Council who decided we should have a pyjama and crazy hair day! Once the collections have been counted we will let you know how much we raised as a school.
There are a number of children who are persisting in coming to school in clothes which are not school uniform. It is the expectation that all children wear our school uniform everyday to school; this shows pride and belonging. Those children who come to school without uniform will be given a jumper from the lost property and expected to wear it. If your child has grown out of their uniform, please replace it. Remember we have a uniform exchange in the main reception which has lots of nearly new uniform which you can take for free; and if your child has PPG funding then you can claim back up to £20 of uniform purchases in an academic year - just bring your receipts to the school office and they will explain how we will transfer the funds.
We finished Science week off on Monday with another fabulous assembly from Miss Sailsbury.
Last week each afternoon the children took part in different activities linked to the Science week theme of 'Change and Adapt'.
It has been lovely to see the children getting excited about scientific enquiry and finding out!
Please remember as soon as children reach the school they should get off their bikes and scooters and walk them into school. The site is very busy in the morning and afternoon and it therefore unsafe to ride around the school site.
All children riding bikes and scooters should be wearing a helmet to protect their heads should they fall.
For those children who are in Year 5 and 6, bikes must not be ridden on the pavements. This is unsafe and could cause injury to pedestrians. Please teach your child how to ride safely on the roads.
Next week is the start of the Big Walk and Wheel. We will be recording how many children walk, scoot or ride to school next week and entering it onto the Sustrans leaderboard. There are prizes for the top schools - I wonder how well we will do this year!
Remember that bikes and scooters can be stored safely in school either at the bike racks or the scooter pods.
Please remember to park considerately at morning drop off and afternoon colllection. Families should not be parking in a way which blocks access to and from a driveway. Residents have a right to be able to leave their driveway as and when they need to and could call the police should they feel they need to.
As a school we would encourage you to park a little bit further away from school and walk the short distance to school. This little bit of walking is really good to wake the children up and get the blood pumping ready for learning. It also means you do not get stuck in the traffic closer to school.
Whole School Attendance:
As a school we are taking part in Street Tag. It a fun way to encourage children (and adults) to become more active. hidden virtually around the streets are 'tag' which you can collect through an app on your mobile. Tags are worth points and points are worth prizes for the school!
Currently we have only got a few active members of our street tag team which means we are currently 8th on the leaderboard.
To join our street tag team, please download the app and follow the instructions below.
