This week has been the last week of Cycle 3 - we hope that all of our families have enjoyed the Oracy Endpoints. It is such a lovely opportunity for the children to be able to share their learning with their families.
On Tuesday Alice, Shail, Peyton and Kuba took part in the HFL education Yaer 4 maths challenge. They worked incredibly hard together and demonstrated excellent team work and resilience. This paid off: they score 157 points out of 199 which earns them a place in the top 20 and the final on the 21st May. We are excited see how they do in!
Next week sees the start of Cycle 4: Creating a Better World. During this cycle of learning the children will be further developing their knowledge of the local area and how we can improve the world we live in.

There seems to be an increasing trend for families to bring to school elaborate cakes, party bags and more when it is their child's birthday. School staff do not have time within a busy day to be packing up party bags or cutting cake. For some children, this is also a source of anxiety because when it is their birthday they don't have a gift to give. For these reasons we will no longer be giving out birthday sweets, cakes or party bags.
Should you wish to provide a treat for a birthday, to support our 'Insatiable Readers' we would like to suggest that you donate a book to the class library. We have a special sticker which we will stick into donated books so that when they are read the children know who donated them. As a school we have an Amazon wishlist where you can choose a book or your child could choose one they think their friends would enjoy.
Next week is Year 6 SATs week. The children in Year 6 will be putting all of their learning into practice and completing SPAG, Reading and Maths papers.
This is a busy week for Year 6. If you have a child who is in Year 6, please ensure that they come to school on time everyday. We will be running a special SATS breakfast club each morning. We would encourage as many children as possible to come to this. It allows them to be in school early; relax with their friends; have any last minute nerves reassured by the adults; and have a nice breakfast.
