The children in Key Stage 2 have had so many exciting opportunities this week which have included Lego Robotics workshops and World Book day. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the adults in school who have organised and supported these events to make sure that they have run smoothly and that the children have had exciting learning opportunities.
The Year 5 Maths Challenge Team (Maya, Haider, Jukub and Timeea) performed brilliantly in their challenge last week. We have the results from the competition; the team scored a total of 154 points which put them in 34th position overall (the top 20 schools progressed through to the finals). We are incredibly proud of how well they worked together to solve some very challenging problems!
As you may be aware, we are about to open a brand new centre, Houghton Regis Leisure & Community Centre on Saturday the 29th March and we are hosting a ‘grand opening day’.
Our grand opening will include centre tours, face painting, balloon modelling, inflatable swim sessions, bouncy castle sessions, live DJ (Gina Breeze), PT taster sessions as well as meet and greet sessions with our sports star Olympians Mark Foster and Harry Aikines-Aryeetey (AKA Nitro from BBC’s Gladiators).
We hope you agree that this will be a great day for the whole family and what a great way to promote fitness to our next generation.
Next Wednesday (12th March), is Young Carers day. As part of the day we are asking children to come to school wearing something blue to raise awareness (there is no charge for this).
Mrs Molloy and our Young Carers group will be leading assemblies during the day so that the children know more about what it is like to be a Young Carer.
This week we have had 3 classes who have 100% attendance - this is an amazing achievement and means that they haven't missed out on any learning this week!
Please remember to report absences to the school office either by telephone, email or through StudyBugs. This allows us to appropriately code absences.
Yesterday we had a super World Book Day! The costumes were amazing, the book character plates were fabulous and the mystery boxes which arrived at school sparked lots of excellent stories.
We were also lucky enough to have a visit from some Luton Town Footballers and the mascots who shared stories with the children at the end of the day!
