This half term has started well. On Monday the children were reminded about the expectations of the Tithe Farm Way. This has been seen around school both in the classrooms and on the playground. It has been lovely to see how well the children are playing together with the introduction of different activity zones on the playgrounds. On Thursday, Maya, Haider, Timeea and Jakub took part in the Herts for Learning Year 5 Maths Challenge. They worked together to solve a variety of different mathematical problems. Their answers have been submitted and we will wait to hear how we have done! They worked together excellently and were great ambassadors for the school.
On Wednesday, the children all enjoyed an Open the Book Assembly which was delivered by Stef and her team. This week's assembly was based on the stories of the miracles which Jesus performed.
Please remember to pre-order school meals for your children. When meals are not pre-ordered it can cause upset for your child because they do not have a choice about the food that they are able to have. So you don't forget, meals can be ordered on the school app for the whole half term.
If you provide your child with a snack at break time, this should be a piece of fruit. Children are not allowed to have crisps or chocolate as part of their breaktime snack. The reason for this is that Crisps and Chocolate do not provide children with long lasting energy to support learning. If seen eating crisps at breaktime, children will be asked to put them in lunchboxes for lunchtime or not to have them until they are at home if they have a school meal.
All children are expected to wear black school shoes as part of their school uniform. Please ensure that unless it is PE day that shoes are worn. Children will be asked where their shoes are and a uniform letter will be sent home to families if children continue to wear trainers.
A reminder to families in receipt of PPG funding, if you haven't already claimed funding towards uniform this academic year, you are able to bring a receipt showing the purchase of uniform. You will be asked to complete a form which has your bank details on and then school will reimburse up to £20 for school uniform.
Next week we will begin the Heats for our Public Speaking competition. Children should have prepared:
Reception and Key Stage 1: learnt a poem or rhyme to recite
Key Stage 2: Written a speech to present (no powerpoint)
All children are expected to take part in the heats which will take place in front of their class or a familiar adult. The winning speech will progress to the final where families will be invited and guest judges will be in attendance to pick our 2025 winner.
Raffle Tickets
On different days of the week but always Monday and Friday, the children are able to earn a raffle ticket if they are in school on time. The raffle tickets are put into a draw which will take place at the end of the school year. School Council voted to have a large raffle with lots of different prizes in the summer term. Prizes already purchased include a scooter, games, stationary, rubix cube and gel pens. Other items will be added after consultation with School Council.
Term Time Holiday
We have had a number of requests for school to authorise term time holiday. The Government does not allow us to authorise any term time holiday as a consequence any holiday taken will be unauthorised and that which is over 10 sessions (5 school days) will result in a fine.
