As we come to the end of this term, it is lovely to look back on all of the amazing learning experiences that our children have had. December has been particularly busy (as always). It was great to see so many families attending the FOTF Christmas Fair on Friday. For the second year in a row, the school was packed! Father Christmas was very impressed by how polite and well spoken our children were, he has gone back to his workshop to ensure that all of the gifts are ready for delivery! The funds raised by the FOTF will be used to support events and learning across the school in the coming year.
Our choir was invited to sing at two events this week. Firstly, they sang in Morrisons, raising money to support the L&D hospital charity. After this, they dropped into the All Saints View Assisted Living Christmas party and sang to the residents. The Mayor and Father Christmas were in attendance. As always, our children were a credit to the school and modelled the Tithe Farm Way impeccably.
Today we held our attendance raffle and gave out certificates to all pupils with 97% or above attendance. Congratulations to the raffle winners and those who received a certificate. We also held our House Point Disco for Sewell which was the winning house this term. There will be another House Point celebration at the end of the Spring Term - please remind your children to keep following the Tithe Farm Way so that they can collect house points for their houses!
This week, you should have received two reports from the school - an interim report and an attendance report. These are both for your information and share how your child is attaining in their learning at this point in the year and also how their attendance is looking. When looking at the attendance report, please remember that good attendance is 97% or above. Attendance which is under 95% causes concern and will effect the progress and attainment of your child.
On behalf of all staff, I would like to thank all families for the generous Christmas gifts which members of staff have received. We hope that all of our families are able to enjoy a restful and peaceful break over the Christmas holidays. We look forward to seeing the children back in school, ready to learn on Tuesday 6th January 2026.
The staff are now becoming more experienced using Arbor, as such, you will notice that we are beginning to send more communication through the Parent Portal.
If you have not signed up, please do so during the Christmas break because in the new year, we will begin to phase out the use of the old system and only use Arbor for communication.
Reminder emails from Arbor will continue to be sent to all those who have not signed up. If you are struggling to sign up, please pop to the office who will be happy to help you gain access.
Whole School Attendance to date: 94%
We are currently just below the national average attendance which is 94.7%. It would be amazing if in the new year we can at least be in line with the national average.
As mentioned in previous newsletters, from January, new attendance systems will be put in place to support families and children to be in school.
As part of our new approach, we will be making phone calls to families when children are not in school or where we see patterns in absences, for example when siblings are off on the same day. These phone calls are to see if there is anything which we, as a school, can do to support you and your children.
Keep an eye on the calendar (which can be found at the bottom of the newsletter) because there are lots of events which are already planned for the children.
Dates to remember in January:
5th January: INSET Day
6th January: Children return to school
21st January: Year 3 Learn Together
22nd January: Jade Class Assembly
26/27th January: Road Safety Sessions
The club expression of interest form will also be sent out on our return. Remember to select the clubs which you think you children would like to attend.
We will be saying goodbye to 2 members of staff at Christmas both of whom are moving on to new adventures.
Miss Dearne who has worked at Tithe Farm for many years is starting a new job within the Herfordshire EHCP team. Thank-you for all you have done for the children at Tithe Farm and good luck in your new role.
Miss Draper is also moving on from Tithe Farm. She will be starting a new role in a High School in Luton.
In January, we will welcome Mr Clarke to our teaching team. He will be teaching Turquoise class from January.
