Happy New Year to all of our families; we hope that everyone was able to have a restful break. The children have returned ready for learning and have enjoyed seeing their friends and adults after the break.
The new year has begun with very wintery weather conditions. Please ensure that your children come to school dressed appropriately for the weather. Where it is possible, we will take the children out at break and lunchtime. The fresh air and a chance to run around helps children to be ready for their learning. A warm and waterproof coat, hat, scarf and gloves are all appropriate when the weather is as it is.
Should there be a need to close the school for any reason, this will be communicated to families at the earliest opportunity. We will announce school closure using the Central Bedforshire Schools Open Service. Local radio stations also check this and on days where school may be closed due to adverse weather conditions they will make announcements.Families can register for updates from the Schools Open Service online. We will also put a post on Facebook should school be closed. If there have been no updates or posts then please assume that school is open and therefore attendance is expected.
We are pleased to announce that Mr Hill and his wife welcomed their baby boy - Albie- into the world on Christmas day. Mr Hill will not be in school until Monday 19th January whilst he takes his paternity leave. I am sure that everyone will join me in sending our congratulations to the family.
We would like to welcome Mr Clarke and Mrs Everitt to Tithe Farm. We welcome Mr Clarke as Turqouise class teacher and Mrs Everitt as Sapphire class teacher.
We have had a couple of notifications of headlice. Please check your children's hair regularly and treat as appropriate. If you child has long hair please ensure that you keep it tied back - this makes it more difficult for the headlice to move from head to head!.
At the end of term, you should have received an attendance overview for your child. This is to keep you informed about your child's current attendance and highlight how many days/lessons your child has missed due to their absence. If the attendance of your child is causing concern, you will have received a further attendance overview which explains that your child's attendance is a concern. Following this we may be in touch to ask if there is any way in which we can support you with school attendance.
We understand that children are ill from time to time and do not expect them to come to school if they are too unwell to come to school. If you are unsure about whether your child is well enough you can always let the class teacher know and they will keep an eye on them and should they need to go home we will contact you.
Please be aware as part of our new attendance procedures we will make phone calls to families when children are absent to ensure that we are doing everything we can do to support you. Regular school attendance plays an important role in children’s progress, learning and overall well being, as regular attendance helps them keep up with lessons and routines.
We now have 74% of families who have activated their parent portal account/parent portal app - this is excellent because you will be able to do a whole range of things using this account.
You can access you parent portal either through the website or by downloading the app. Information can be found on our website about how to activate your account: https://www.tithefarmprimary.co.uk/page/?title=Arbor&pid=195
Our February parents evening will be being booked through the parent portal so please ensure you have signed up by then so you can book to see you child's class teacher. If you have any problems please speak to a member of the office team and they will be able to help you.
