This is an exciting and relevant course that looks at the human and physical aspects of our world. You will explore case studies from countries of different cultures and economies, learning and developing their understanding of the dynamic world around them. In Unit 1 you will investigate our dynamic planet, from the study of earthquakes to climate change, deforestation to desertification and how the UK’s landscape has been formed over time. In Unit 2, you will assess the impact of exponential population growth on urban areas across the world and upon resources such as food, water and energy. Unit 2 will also allow you to look at how different countries are developing socially and economically, before comparing them to the UK. Unit 3 will also provide you with the opportunity to discover geography in the field through human and physical geography fieldwork experiences. Decision making is an important part of GCSE Geography and you will be encouraged to analyse and interpret a wide range of information in a variety of formats; applying this to the exam with the chance to give your own argument and opinion.
