Children’s’ growth and development in the early years provides a foundation for them to develop into well-rounded adults. This course will provide you with the key information required to help you move onto a career in child care.
Over the course, you will learn how children grow and develop from birth to the age of 5 years, and how adults can help to promote this. You will cover how children play and the types of play, as well as activities used to help them develop in specific areas. Sadly, there are reasons why children do not develop within a set time frame or appear to be taking steps backwards; these reasons and ways to overcome them will be covered.
The course is split into three units, the third one is externally assessed and comes in the format of a written exam paper. The first two units are assignment based and are marked internally by the classroom teacher. Both units have one assignment each. The Award is graded from Pass - Distinction*.
