Operation 37 is the final machining operation for the step blocks. Apprentices will mill a slot in the side of the step blocks and stamp first initials and last names.
There is no operational instructions for this process. Apprentices are to determine and complete the following steps on their own or in their groups.
Read and interpret the blueprint to understand the machining requirements of the operation.
Create a tool path using X, Y, and Z axes coordinates that will be used as your instructions for moving the cutting tool up to and through the material while cutting.
Setup workholding solution for the operation.
Locate work piece on the machine.
Machine the slot features to the correct location and sizes detailed on the blueprint utilizing your tool path.
Apprentices should utilize the skills and processes learned throughout the completion of Project 1 to complete this operation.
