The Specialist High Skills Major (SHSM) @ Western
The Specialist High Skills Major (SHSM) is an Ontario designation that allows students to focus on a career path that matches their individual skills and interests. Leadership is a bundle of eight courses that fall under the Non-Profit Sector. The SHSM program is a reach ahead- experience which includes: sector-recognized certifications and training courses, experiential learning (including cooperative educations credits), use of the Ontario's Skills Passport and development of essential skills and work habits required in the sector. As well, opportunities for Dual Credit programs in a variety of post-secondary institutions are available. Students who complete the SHSM requirements graduate with a red seal on their diploma. This will indicate a universal provincial designation of a higher level of achievement to all post-secondary schools no matter what program the student may choose to pursue.
