Northern SS status for the 2025-2026 school year is a “Secondary School Without a Boundary (SSWAB)”. Find more info from the TDSB here and here.
Steps for families to follow when applying to Northern SS:
Go to the TDSB “Find Your School” tool here.
Northern SS has a small Collegiate home school boundary. Students who by home address that fall into that Collegiate home school boundary DO NOT have to apply through the SSWAB process.
Students who ARE in NSS’s Collegiate home school boundary: No further action NOW.
When submitting grade 9 course in myBlueprint, select Northern SS (Feb-March, 2025)
Students who ARE NOT in NSS’s Collegiate home school boundary: must complete the "Secondary School without a Boundary” application, which is found in the Out-of-Area Admissions application found here.

Northern Secondary School*

* Students wishing to attend Northern Secondary School who do not live within the Collegiate home school boundary for NSS must apply through this process to attend Northern Secondary School.

Priority 1: siblings at the SSWAB school in 2025-2026
Priority 2: 30% of seats reserved for students interested in technological studies. Please note, if admitted through the technological study priority, students MUST take a technology studies course all 4 years of study at NSS.
Priority 3: students residing in North Toronto' s collegiate home school catchment. Please note: students who fall into priority 3 are NOT ELIGIBLE for priority 2.
Priority 4: TDSB students
Secondary Out-of-Area Admissions dates:
Online application form open from January 6 to January 24, 2025 at 4 p.m.
Round 1:
Families to be informed of the status of the application on Wednesday, February 12, 2025 before the end of the day.
Families must confirm acceptance of the offer by Tuesday, February 18 at 4 p.m.
Round 2:
Families to be updated on the status of the application on Wednesday February 19, 2025.
Families must confirm acceptance of the offer by Tuesday, February 25 at 4 p.m.
Final Round:
Families to be updated of the final status of the application on Wednesday February 26, 2025.
Families must confirm acceptance of the offer by Friday, February 28 at 4 p.m.
All waitlists expire at the end of the day on February 26, 2025.
TDSB Students must finalize their acceptance by completing and submitting the corresponding course selection for the accepted school in myBlueprint no later than Monday, March 3, 2025.

Step 3: Request a IPRC in fall of 2025. At this time, the TDSB is only proceeding to IPRC for students who present with extremely complex medical needs and who require immediate support in an Intensive Support Program.
