OrbitNote

OrbitNote can scan and OCR all text within a PDF. Students and staff can add any PDF to their Google Drive and open OrbitNote to apply OCR.  Optical Character Recognition (OCR) allows you to access the tools of OrbitNote within PDFs that came from worksheets, pages from books, photocopied material, or other images that have been scanned/taken a picture for screen readers to read the text.

2 - Installation support

OrbitNote opens PDF documents using the 'Open with' directly within Google Drive. OrbitNote has many of the same tools available in the Read & Write Extension.

1) Install the OrbitNote Extension  (students and teachers will need to do this one time)

2) Select Add to Chrome

3) Use the tool bar at the top to gain greater accessibility in PDFs.

OrbitNote has replaced PDF Reader. For users who already have PDF Reader installed on their profile, PDF documents will open automatically with OrbitNote. From the Google Drive, right click and select Read&Write for Google Chrome or OrbitNote. There will be a one time prompt to select "Sign in with Google" and you will be asked to allow OrbitNote to access your Google Drive. After the one time sign-in and allowing permissions, OrbitNote will open PDFs once 'Open with: Read&Write for Google Chrome' is selected from the Drive.
