Co-Ed Flag Rugby

Grade 5 Flag Rugby

Wednesday, June 5th

We will be taking TTC to Diefenbaker on Monday, June 10th for our tournament. I have posted the schedule here for you. Please arrive at Gledhill for 8 am so we can get our jerseys and prepare for the day.

Please bring soccer cleats if you have them, as well as a pair of running shoes. Diefenbaker has a turf field, and we will have to see what works best.

Water, snacks, lunch, appropriate athletic wear. We will have our tent as a home base for all of our things.

Looking forward to seeing some parents on the sidelines.

Saturday, June 1st

I have heard back from the other schools involved with Grade 5 rugby and have been able to secure June 10th for our rugby tournament. We will be playing at Deifenbaker. I will post a schedule here once it is complete.

Practices for this week have been added to the calendar. I am at Bowmore on Monday to convene the Grade 6 and 8 flag rugby tournaments, but back to Gledhill finally on Tuesday.

June 4th - 11:45am practice in the gym. I will pick the team up from lunch. Indoor shoes required for this.

June 5th - 7:45am practice on the field. Please bring cleats.

June 6th - 7:45am practice on the field. Please bring cleats.

June 7th - PA Day

June 10th - tournament. Arrive at school 8am to travel by TTC. Back to Gledhill before end of school day.

All parents welcome.

If anyone is available to bring our Tiger tent, please let me know. I would like to have it there for our team, however it would be difficult to bring on TTC.

Sunday, May 26th

Evening all.

I am unfortunately forced to take this next week off to deal with an ongoing health issue. This means that I will not be able to run any practices for our rugby team. I hope to be back to school, and in healthy enough condition to be at school and in front of my classes.

Where does this leave us for rugby?

I had scheduled the tournament for June 3rd at Deifenbaker. I will now look to move that tournament to a future date in order to get back to school to prepare our team. Any athlete that attended our sessions this year will be allowed to play for me this year.

I am sorry about this, but I need to get this sorted.

Please email me directly should you need clarification on anything.

Thursday, May 9th

With such an amazing turn out, I am going to keep everyone for the team this year. With track and field practices going before school as of tomorrow, I am going to bring the team together to continue preparing for our tournament at lunch in the gym. Very busy time of year, so when the gym is open, and athletes are not on a trip, or in other clubs, I will call for a practice on the day.

I am still finalizing the tournament, which I hope to host. The winner of our tournament will go to the City Finals on June 14th, so we have plenty of time.

Monday, April 22nd

The time has come to get moving with our flag rugby tryouts. Please visit EMA if your athlete in Grades 4 or 5 plans to come out to any of next weeks 3 tryouts.

Monday, April 29th

Wednesday, May 1st

Friday, May 3rd

All tryouts begin on the field at 7:45 am arrival, prepared to go by 8 am. Cleats, water, and athletic clothing are needed.

If raining, we will be in the gym.

This is a co-ed team, and so I will be looking for approx 10 players to make the final team. We will compete in a tournament for the South (date will be chosen and posted shortly), with the winner representing the South at the City championships.

Please reach out if you have any questions.
