Boys Basketball
Friday, February 23rd
Please make sure you go to EMA and find the new excursion to Balmy Beach. You must give permission before we leave here Monday morning to travel by TTC and walk to Balmy Beach for the game.
Please have your athlete arrive at 7:45am, as we will plan to leave at 8am latest for our 9am game. All parents are welcome to join.
Should we win, we will move on to the conference semi finals and finals on February 28th at Cosburn.
Monday, February 19th
I have added a few practices this week to prepare us for our 1/4 game on the 26th at Balmy Beach in the AM. I was thinking that if we had enough drivers, we could get there by parent drivers. Please let me know if you are able. If not, we will travel by TTC for our 9am game.
Tuesday, February 13th
We played yesterday in our tournament and lost our first game to a very good Diefenbaker team. Our second game turned out in our favour though, so we will get to play another game against the winner of another pool. That tournament takes place today, and our 1/4 final match will need to be next week.
****Feb 14th.....I now know that Balmy Beach won their pool. That means they have the opportunity to host. I will wait to hear from their coach, and let you know.
Should we win that game (likely traveling), we would play February 26th in the Conference semi finals at Cosburn.
I will post here when I knew who and when we are playing, and schedule a practice or 2 before we play.
Wednesday, February 7th
I was hoping to have another exhibition game tomorrow before school, but it doesn't sound like Secord is available. I was also trying to get a practice in before school, but am unable to get here. I will stick with Friday, but am moving it to before school.
I am away on Monday, February 12th in the morning, but plan to be at school for 11am. I will get the boys down with me to eat lunch, and prepare for their 11:45am game. Here is the schedule for the day. Top 2 move on to the next round.

RH McGregor v Deifenbaker - 12:45 - 1:45pm
RH McGregor v Gledhill - 1:45 - 2:45pm
If you are coming to watch, please check in at the office first, get a visitors pass, and then make your way to the stage.
Thursday, February 1st
Many thanks to all of you for getting here so early this morning for our game against Secord. It's a great way to prepare for our tournament, and I will be looking to do it again next week.....likely Thursday. More to come on that.
Please check back by Sunday at dinner time for next weeks practice schedule. I will also be posting our game times for the 12th. Sounds like our games will be in the afternoon.
Monday, January 29th
I have managed to secure Secord for an exhibition game on Thursday, February 1st. We don't play them this year in our tournament, but their coach and I thought it would be a nice learning opportunity for both teams to play a game. I know it's early, but if you could try to have them to me for 7:20am, for a game to begin around 7:30am, it would be great. We will play a game before school and stop often to coach them.
I know it's early, but try your best. If you can't get them to me, I understand.
AS THIS IS ONLY AN EXHIBITION GAME, I WOULD ASK THAT YOU DO NOT STAY TO WATCH. IT IS BEING USED AS A COACHABLE MOMENT, AND WE WOULD LIKE TO CLOSE IT OFF TO SPECTATORS. I APPRECIATE YOUR SUPPORT WITH THIS.
Sunday, January 28th
Practices begin this week, and I am in talks with Secord for an exhibition game before or after school. I have it penciled in for Thursday before school, but will let you know when that is confirmed.
Have a look at the calendar for all times this week. We have 2 weeks to prepare for our tournament at Gledhill on the 12th.
Monday, January 22nd
Thank you to all of the boys who made an effort at tryouts. It was really nice to see the interest level to join this year's team. I have decided on the following 11 boys to compete at our FEBRUARY 12TH tournament here at Gledhill. My plan is to now focus on ball hockey the rest of this week and then decide on practice schedules for both teams. Practices will begin Monday, so please check the calendar by Sunday night.........I may actually throw one in this week, but if I do, I will let you and the boys know.

Our final basketball tryout has been added to our calendar for the upcoming week. Please make sure you have signed the permission form on EMA. See you before school tomorrow!
SUNDAY, JANUARY 14TH
I will be starting our boys basketball tryouts this week before school Tuesday and Wednesday. In order to make the squad this year, you must be there for the tryouts, and be ready to go for 8am. I will prop the doors to the gym open at 7:45am and have the boys get themselves ready for the 8am start time.
We have been placed into Division 1 this year, with our tournament taking place at Deifenbaker. Once the team has been chosen, I will post a schedule of practices on the calendar. The tryout times and dates are listed on the calendar now.
