Terry Fox fundraising information!
1. Please make sure to sign and submit your Walking Permission form, either online or hard copy, in order for your child to participate in next week's Terry Fox walk on Thursday, September 25th at 10:30 am.
2. So far, Gledhill has raised 40% of our goal! That's just over $4000. Thank you very much to everyone who has submitted their donations online. If you would prefer to submit your donation in cash, please email Mrs. Bailey at: heather.bailey@tdsb.on.ca and we can make an alternate arrangement.
Donations will automatically enter students into a draw for several Terry Fox tshirts! Winners will be announced next Thursday morning before our school walk.
3. Starting next week, students can buy raffle tickets to win a roll of Terry Fox loonies, signed by Terry's brother Fred! Tickets will be sold at lunch (11:45 am) outside door 4 on Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday, as well as Curriculum Night on Monday, September 29th at 6:30 pm, (also outside by door 4.) The winner will be announced Tuesday, September 30th.

Message from Ms. Bailey
This week was such an inspirational week, after having had our visit with Terry Fox's brother, Fred Fox, here at Gledhill. Students had an opportunity to listen to a heartfelt presentation given by Fred, followed by a number of student prepared questions which Fred kindly answered. We showed our appreciation with a gift and a song that was sung and performed on ukulele from students in classes 24, 25 and 30!
Beginning mid-next week, check out the display case beside the office where you will see a heartfelt message that Fred wrote to our Gledhill community in a book he gifted to us, in addition to photos from the visit and other special Terry Fox books!
We have had a wonderful start to our Terry Fox foundation fundraising, with funds reaching almost $2000, but we are a long stretch to our goal of $10,450. We can do it Gledhill! -We did it last year and we can do it again! Thank you for all of your support and helping find a cure for cancer!
Our upcoming events include: "marathon of hope” activities around the playground, Terry Fox Trivia on the announcements, a raffle where we will raffle off a roll of Terry Fox loonies, signed by Fred Fox. Stay tuned for next week's newsletter for more information on that!
Here is our school link to make your donation. Participating students will be entered to win one of the Terry Fox shirts we have for fundraisers. Thank you!

MR. WEBB WAS 6 YEARS OLD, AND WAS LUCKY ENOUGH TO BE ABLE TO DONATE SOME MONEY TO THE MARATHON OF HOPE!
ONE OF MY EARLIEST MEMORIES IS LINING THE STREETS OF PICKERING VILLAGE, WHERE MY GRANDFATHER WAS A REVEREND AT ST. GEORGE'S ANGLICAN CHURCH. I CAN REMEMBER SEEING TERRY RUN BY, AND THE EXCITEMENT OF THE CROWD AND ENERGY ON THE DAY. BY THE TIME HE REACHED US, HIS MOMENTUM HAD BUILT TO EPIC PROPORTIONS, AND I ENJOY WATCHING THE VIDEOS FOR WHEN HE WAS AT SCARBOROUGH CIVIC CENTRE, KNOWING THAT I HAD SEEN HIM RIGHT AROUND THAT DAY.
