Principals & Vice Principals - some of your weekly questions - answered HERE
~from the LC3 Superintendents
The Professional Misconduct regulation under the Ontario College of Teachers Act has been amended to add as an act of professional misconduct “Making remarks or engaging in behaviours that expose any person or class of persons to hatred on the basis of a prohibited ground of discrimination” under the Human Rights Code, such as race, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity and expression. This important amendment appears to be broader than engaging in hate speech, and includes action and inaction that “exposes” others to hate. For more information:

~For our Secondary Schools a message from Laura Somerville, Executive Director, Team Unbreakable
The Team Unbreakable Running for Youth Mental Health Initiative uses running as a vehicle to improve, promote, and affirm youth wellbeing. Our program has been designed with social distancing in mind. Our partners at the University of Toronto’s Faculty of Kinesiology and Physical Education, Mental Health & Physical Activity Research Centre have been instrumental in creating this researched based program. Since Team Unbreakable is a registered charity, we are able to offer this work to school free of charge.
The program is supported through our Mental Health Toolkit, which is a combination of program modules and activities for students, a teachers guide, monographs featuring key learnings, and training techniques that support physical activity.
Our program aligns with several of the outcomes in Ontario’s Physical Education and Health Curriculum and can be implemented as either an active component of a Secondary School Physical Education program or as a co-curricular club. We offer staff training in our program, which can be done virtually through our “Train the Trainer” seminars.
Attached is a one page description of our program as well as our teachers guide for your consideration. If you would like more information please contact us and we will gladly get you started with our program. lauras@teamunbreakable.ca
