Vanier's "one of a kind" Recording Studio is an exciting space at the school. There are 5 separate recording spaces. Whatever music you wish to create and record can be made at the Studio in Vanier. Studio 1, known as "Valhalla" houses a 32 Channel mixer capable of multitrack recording coffee house performances and other events. Studio 2 "Longboat" is typically used for recording drums and vocals. Studio 3 "Valkyrie," Studio 4 "Raven," and Studio 5 "Eagle" can be used for single instrument or vocal recording as well as mixing. All computers are equipped with the "Studio One" Digital Audio Workstation, popular in the professional music industry. Some computers have FL Studio for use as well.
The courses for Studio Music have no prerequisites at the Grade 9 or 10 level. Though it is helpful to have some music experience before taking the course, it is not required.
Senior level courses, AMM3M1 and AMM4M1 are a part of Vanier's Arts and Culture SHSM. Students in the Senior classes get a head start to various post-secondary programs, such as the renowned Harris Institute and Metalworks Institutes in the Greater Toronto Area. Field trips in the senior classes directly introduce students to the music industry.
