How to use GALE Databases

  • If you need a refresher on research databases, please go to the Student Resources Tab > Online Research Resources and watch the intro video there.

  • Note that you can post directly to your Google Classroom through GALE (look for the icon in the top right corner & post to your stream, assignments, etc.)

Search for Toronto Catholic District School Board as the school name. Login with your school GAFE account. How to get set up & use the tools within it.

QuickTime - Reminder that you can record screencasts through QT if you already have this program.

Apps & CHrome extensions: Increase Student Engagement, Sharing Ideas and Information in new ways

Easily add voice comments and feedback to shared documents and assignments. Mote is integrated into Google Docs, Slides, Sheets and Classroom. Create voice notes for any website or application using the 'motepad' within the mote Chrome extension menu - simply click on the browser icon to access.


Mindomo - Create mind maps, concept maps, outlines and Gantt Charts to improve your thinking and learning. Teachers/Students can use for collaboration on maps, course presentations, group brainstorming, essay planning and writing, visual note-taking

Popplet - at home, students use Popplet for learning. Used as a mind-map, Popplet helps students think and learn visually. Students can capture facts, thoughts, and images and learn to create relationships between them.

Padlet - make beautiful boards, documents, and webpages that are easy to read and fun to contribute to.
