Note that when your teachers are asking you to research, you cannot just do a Google Search. Searching and researching are two different things!

Here is one way to take notes to ensure you don't just copy and paste on the computer (which could end up being plagiarism).
Here is one way to take notes to ensure you don't just copy and paste on the computer (which could end up being plagiarism).
1. Separate your page into sections like the example.
2. On the left hand side, record questions, headings or key ideas (example. Tourism, Industries, Time Periods)
3. On the right hand side, record information you found IN YOUR OWN WORDS (paraphrase). If you copy something word for word, put it in quotation marks and write the link/url that you got it from underneath it.
4. Summarize the key ideas at the bottom so you are sure you understand what you have written down.
5. Use your finished notes to create your presentation or document.
6. At the end of your presentation or document, site your sources using a Reference List or a Works Cited Page.
