Forest of Reading Book Club

Join the Google Classroom (code: zvlm4z2) and participate in person on Wednesdays after school. Drop in when you can!

Special shout out to our Sr. Leaders for planning such amazing events last year!

These are the books we read last year!

How does the Book Club work? Every year the Ontario Library Association nominates the 10 BEST books for tweens and teens. Each book is written by a Canadian author. Book club members check out the books, which are exclusively reserved for Book Club members. Members pick any books they are interested in from November to May, members try to read ideally 5-10 books on their own time.

Members can read in the library, in class, at home, on the subway... anywhere!

When/how do we meet? Weekly Wednesday Hangouts for in-person members to get together, participate in activities and games, read, snack and chat about the books. Many fun reading related prizes and treats are given away throughout the year. Don't worry if you are shy! You can just listen at the monthly socials and find out what others thought about the books. Even if you haven't read or finished a book yet, you can still be on the call or attend in person.

What's so great about this club? In April, members vote for the best book of the year and your votes actually count! The winning authors are awarded based on student votes and we celebrate the winners and our mutual love of reading by attending the Festival of Trees, a province wide event, in May.

What are our club goals?

  • Meet new people and make new friends

  • Read awesome Canadian novels and celebrate the authors

  • Get involved at school

  • Have fun!
