Code of Conduct is based on the school's Mission and behavioural expectations rather than a single standalone list of rules. Students are expected to act in ways that are principled, open-minded, compassionate, respectful, responsible, and safe, both on and off campus.
The key expectations are:
Students should:
Treat everyone with respect, fairness, and consideration.
Support the school's Mission and ethos.
Behave in a way that allows everyone to learn and flourish.
Demonstrate self-discipline, responsibility, honesty, and compassion.
Students are expected to:
Move safely around the school.
Behave responsibly during lessons, breaks, and lunchtime.
Wear the school uniform correctly and with pride.
Look after their own belongings.
Respect other people's property.
Care for school buildings and equipment.
Remember they are ambassadors for TASIS England.
Students are also expected to:
Behave in a way that reflects positively on the school.
Follow school rules during trips and educational visits.
Avoid illegal, dangerous, or inappropriate behaviour, even outside school.
Understand that off-campus misconduct may still lead to school sanctions.
The policy lists behaviours that may result in disciplinary action, including:
Disruptive classroom behaviour
Dress code violations
Mobile phone misuse
Tardiness
Bullying
Academic dishonesty
IT/Acceptable Use Policy violations
Insubordination
Profanity
Smoking or vaping
Alcohol or illegal drug use
Theft
Physical assault
Harmful sexual behaviour
Possession of weapons
Discriminatory behaviour
Behaviour "out of sympathy with the ethos of the school."
The policy emphasises that discipline is intended to be educational rather than purely punitive. It prioritises:
Positive reinforcement and rewards.
Calm, consistent responses to poor behaviour.
Restorative conversations and reflection.
Proportionate sanctions when necessary.
Supporting students to improve rather than simply punishing them.
In summary, the policy's Code of Conduct expects students to:
Respect others
Act responsibly
Be honest and compassionate
Maintain self-discipline
Protect the safety and wellbeing of the community
Uphold the values and reputation of TASIS England wherever they are.
As part of the boarding induction, the rules, regulations, and Code of Conduct will be explained to students by the Director of Boarding and reaffirmed regularly by House Parents. Positive conduct is expected, and poor behaviour is not tolerated. A system of rewards and consequences is in place for addressing student behaviour.
