Describing People

Describing something or someone is an important skill. Describing your wallet that you lost, or the person who took your wallet can be helpful when talking to police or to someone at the store where you think it happened.

New Vocabulary

1) committing a crime - someone who doesn't follow the rules or laws.

Ex: He robbed the bank. He committed a crime.

2.) identify- to pick out or point out a person

3.) criminal - the person who broke the law and committed a crime.

4.) elderly - old

5.) contacts- people put thin lenses in their eyes to see better. No need to wear glasses. Contacts do the same job as glasses.

When we describe a suspect to the police, it is important to give as much information as you can. This will help them look for and hopefully catch the person who committed the crime. From the video, you see that you can use: height, age, length, hair (length, type, and color), and facial hair, if it was a man. We can also describe the person's weight, eye color, and clothing/jewelry. Weight description words include: thin, slim, light (for a little weight) and fat, plump, heavy ( for a lot of weight).
