Clarifying

I think that CLARIFYING is one of the most important skills in speaking and understanding English. In learning a new language you can not know or understand everything. Americans speak fast and clarifying is a good way to understand what the other person is saying in the conversation. Clarify means 'to make clear in your mind'/'explain more'.

There is more to speaking and understanding English than just using correct grammar and vocabulary. Native English speakers convey meaning with 'intonation' in their speaking.

First, WATCH and LISTEN only to the video. DO NOT WRITE. NEXT, WATCH the video again and REPEAT for pronunciation. Take notes if you need. **If you need subtitles, click on the 'cc' at the bottom of the video.

WATCH and LISTEN. Listen especially for the intonation used by the speakers with their clarification phrases. PRACTICE the phrases for pronunciation and intonation.

Practice by reading the phrases below with the correct intonation!

I am hoping we can do some practice in a zoom.
