Many students said they need writing. This week our lesson is about sentence structure;how to build a good sentence. We will start with 'parts of a sentence'. A subject is a noun. A noun is a person (teacher), place (school), or thing ( cat, pencil....).

The basic sentence structure in ENGLISH is subject +verb+object. We call ENGLISH a subject verb object (SVO) language.

A sentence must have 3 things: a subject, a verb, and you must understand it. Example: Babies cry. That is a sentence.....babies = subject, cry = verb, and I understand it.

Building upon a basic subject verb sentence- We eat. Ask yourself- eat WHAT or WITH WHO? dinner = object We eat dinner. Ask yourself - We eat dinner - WHERE? in the kitchen = place. We eat dinner in the kitchen. Ask yourself - We eat dinner in the kitchen WHEN? every evening = time. We eat dinner in the kitchen every evening. ( This sentence has S+V+O+P+T ).
