Last week we looked at 3 parts of speech: nouns, verbs, and adjectives. Let's review. Fill in the blanks to this sentence. Write it on a piece of paper. Then check your answers. Go to the word 'ANSWERS' and click on the 'v' on the right.

Look at the next 3 sentences. Choose the part of speech that would go there.

EXAMPLE: The (noun/verb/adjective) boy (noun/verb/adjective) over the old (noun/verb/adjective).

Answer: The (adjective) boy (verb) over the old (noun).

1) My friend likes to (noun/verb/adjective) on the grass.

2) The (noun/verb/adjective) dog was chasing the (noun/verb/adjective) around the yard.

3) Two birds (noun/verb/adjective) down and (noun/verb/adjective) on a (noun/verb/adjective).

ANSWERS

NOUNS are a person, place, or thing. VERBS are words that show action. ADJECTIVES are describing words; they describe nouns.

1) My friend likes to (verb) on the grass.

2) The (adjective) dog was chasing the (noun) around the yard.

3) Two birds (verb) down and (verb) on a (noun).

Find the nouns, verbs, and adjectives in these sentences. Write the sentences on a paper. Then identify the 3 parts of speech. Check your answers by going to the word 'ANSWERS' and clicking on the 'v' on the right side.

Example: Max catches a big fish every year. Max , fish, and year=nouns catches = verb big = adjective

ANSWERS

Adjectives

Fill in the form. Look at the sentences, find the nouns, and rewrite the sentences, adding adjectives to describe the nouns. The example sentence is a basic sentence with no adjectives. The second one has adjectives added.

EXAMPLE: The dog is waiting in the car. rewrite sentence: The large dog is waiting in the hot car.
