Authentic Learning Toolbox

This Authentic Learning Toolbox provides a set of learning tools that groups might engage with in various learning contexts. The first ten activities in the toolbox invite participants to explore what authentic learning is, what it might look like and how it might be realised in different contexts and focus areas. The final two activities focus on giving leadership for authentic learning. The set of tools is supported by a Leaders of learning guide, which provides additional information for the leader of learning to enable implementation. The toolbox provides a valuable source of professional learning for individual teachers, professional learning networks, faculties, leadership teams and whole schools.

This toolbox is deliberately linked to the Sydney Catholic Schools' material on the NESA Syllabuses for the Australian Curriculum. As our understandings of authentic learning become more sophisticated, they will inform our work in content selection, choice of materials, scope and sequence, programming – in short, in the implementation of the curriculum. (Look for the links to NESA Syllabuses for the Australian Curriculum activities in each of the elements of the toolbox).
