Shared leadership for authentic learning

1. Form groups of four to five people and then divide the whole group in two. Invite half of the group to answer the a. questions, and the other half, to answer the b. questions.

iv. What can be learned from the experience?

b. questions

i. i. What do you understand by shared leadership?

ii.Share any experiences of attempts at shared/distributed leadership, that worked well.

iii. Why did they work?

iv. What can be learned from the experience?

2. Bring the whole group together.

3. One member of each a. group(s) is invited to share the group's responses. Repeat for the b. group(s). Record the main ideas on a board, large size paper, or digital board. (The Google presentation to the right can be used to record actions. Simply 'Make a copy' and share with participants).

2. Divide the whole group in half.
3. Group a. are invited to identify points of similarity and difference between the collated responses from the previous task, and Harris’ presentation.
4. Group b. are invited to note the implications for practice in your school/team in what Prof Harris says.
5. Use the Popcorn strategy (sometimes referred to as Popcorn Share), to share two similarities and two differences. The Popcorn strategy is a collaborative way to get participants to share ideas quickly around the room. It is done verbally where a participant shares their idea and then passes to another person.
6. Use the Popcorn strategy to share the implications for practice, of shared leadership in your school. Record actions. (The Google presentation can be used to record actions.)
