The most helpful warm up in this lesson was the shading exercise. It helped me understand how to shade in different ways to make the picture come to life.

A contour line defines the outline of a form, as well as interior structure, without the use of shading.
I chose to use charcoal for my main project because it's easy to blend shadows, create shadows, and lifts easily from paper.
I was successful in blending, I think that my piece really came together and was realistic because I was able to blend shadows and create highlights.
A challenge that I faced was getting the shape to match the reference image. It had a specific shape, so I had to keep trying and failing to get the precise shape.
