Observation - "Sweet Tooth" - Colored Pencil Drawing

For this project,  I drew a still life of 2 jolly ranchers, a gummy bear, a lollipop, and a Smarty using colored pencils. We focused on highlighting and shading to make the candy look realistic. I used texture to bring this picture to life by making the wrapper and colors pop with contrast and highlighting. I also used proportion to make the candies look the right size, shape, and spot. I added shadows to achieve this. The idea behind this piece was to understand how to use colored pencils in a realistic way; using techniques like shading, blending, highlighting, and shaping. Something successful about this drawing is the contrast and realisticness of the candies, I used lots of bright colors and white to make my drawing pop and look 3-d. Something that was challenging was making the lollipop look 3D because it was white, so adding shading to the wrapper was difficult. This unit, I learned how to make lights and darks of colors without using black and how to make objects proportional.
