Artist Statement:

I knew I wanted to make a mallard duck because they have always been the most interesting to me and I wanted to learn more about them. One thing I learned is how to tell the difference between different types of mallards. I can now identify a youth Mallard and male and female Mallards. I also learned that they always migrate south.

I used colored pencils for this piece, I worked on pushing hard with the pencils to get a more solid color on the paper. I drew a marsh and a river with the duck standing over it on its little perch.
